SANJHI Stenciling to Printing...

Inspired from Sanjhi (paper stenciling craft) of Mathura. The collection includes a whole set of bed products and table ware products.  The motifs are definite and outlined. The term Sanjhi is derived from the Hindi word sandhya, the period of dusk with which the art form is typically associated. The craft is said to have evolved from making rangoli during the time of dusk, with flowers during the period of Lord Krishna. Later when the people found it difficult to make the same age old rangolis they came with a stencil system for making perfect and less time consuming rangolis which had the same resemblance as before. Peacocks, bullock carts, horses, cows, butterflies and trees are some of the common motifs used.
